The first free@last Oddball event in 2014 was a hoot, 9 cars, around 40 people, some seriously good fancy dress, 2 days of fun and mayhem, a little bit of skulduggery, and a whole bucket load of laughs all in aid of a fantastic cause… what could be better… The 2018 Oddball run was even bigger and now, our 2022 Oddball will be a bigger and better affair if that is possible. It’s a 2-day social motoring event with fun challenges, optional speed tests, overnight stay, an awards ‘do’ and it’s all to raise lots of money for a great cause.
All participants are expected to have fun, lots of fun. Fancy dress for the crew is compulsory, and feel free to use a car to match your fancy dress theme too. Take a look at the previous years’ gallery to get an idea of what it is like.
What’s this about?
It’s a 2 day social motoring event with fun challenges, optional speed tests, overnight stay, awards ‘do’ and its all to raise lots of money for a great cause.
We begin our journey at free@last HQ and make our way down to Oxford, completing challenges along the way. The second day sees us return back to free@last, we a few different challenges along the way.
Key to the event is the challenges, each team will be given the ‘golden envelope’ at the start of each day. This will contain a series of challenges which your team are tasked to undertake. You choose to do all, some or none of the challenges, it’s up to you.
free@last was established in 1999, with a mission to improve the lives of the children and young people of Nechells. This is done by providing new opportunities (adventure, exploration, broadening horizons etc.), activities, mentoring and support for children and young people.
To win The Odd Ball Run, it is pretty simple. Raise the most money! Each team will need to set up a Just Giving account linked to free@last and this event and let us know the address. Then, the team which has raised the most money on their Just Giving account by 5pm on last day of the race, is the winner.

The OddBall Run started its life in 2014, the idea was simple, create an event for a bunch of friends to have a whole load of fun and raise some money for a local charity. That year the event involved a handful of cars with an old 4×4 ambulance, a London black cab, a Lamborghini, a Porsche and some old bangers too. It was a resounding success and was recreated in 2016 and 2018. Covid stopped 2020 so we are back again in 2022 to raise some cash and have a bundle of laughs all the way.
